Dr Gabrielle McClelland and Harvinder Panesar from the Faculty of Health Studies were selected to present a workshop entitled ’Integrating diversity into simulation-based Education with Health Professionals’ in partnership with Nuala Walsh from University College Cork, Ireland, at the SESAM annual conference which took place in Glasgow on the 12 -14 June 2019. The conference theme was ‘Excelling together-25 years of interprofessional simulation in Europe’.

The aim of the interactive workshop was to support participants to understand how to integrate human diversity into simulation-based education with health professionals. The importance of preparing health professionals to be able to respond to patients in a safe, effective and inclusive manner was explored using authentic case studies. This workshop presented materials produced as part of a 3 year European Erasmus funded project entitled the ’Sim-Versity project’ involving partners from University College Cork, Ireland, Savonia University of Applied Sciences Ltd, Finland, University of Maribor, Slovenia, and the University of Bradford (09/17-08/2020). Experts by experience, students and other simulation facilities are also involved in the project.
